Privacy Window Film – In a world where people’s lives and information are constantly broadcast, there is certainly something to be said for a little bit of old-fashioned privacy. As you are moving about your home or office, the last thing that you want is to be watched or have your actions on display for any passersby.
Whether your home looks out onto a busy street, you have a window that aligns directly with a neighbour’s window, or you have large, floor-to-ceiling windows in private rooms or offices in a commercial setting, privacy window film can help to keep the prying outdoor eyes away from the interior of your spaces. This film is a great option for windows where blinds or curtains would be unsightly or impractical, as they allow you to still enjoy the warm natural light from the outside while keeping your life on the inside private.
Benefits of privacy window film
The plus sides to privacy film extend far beyond simply turning away any prying eyes or passersby outside, making them a great addition to any space. Additional benefits of upgrading your space by installing privacy window film include:
- UV protection: UVB rays are what cause sunburns and increase skin cancer risk. Having lots of natural light streaming into your space means that you are being exposed to the harmful rays, even while indoors. Privacy window film allows you to filter out over 99% of these rays without sacrificing sunlight and warmth inside.
- Furniture protection: Long-term exposure to sunlight through windows causes furniture, art, and rugs to fade and lose their luster over time. Privacy window film helps to decrease or even eliminate the damage caused by blocking the UV rays.
- Temporary: Our films are long-lasting but also easy to remove without damaging the underlying glass, meaning that you can count on them holding up over time while also knowing that there will be no damage or residue should you need to remove them for any reason.
- Reduced heat and glare: The mild tint of the privacy window film helps to keep out the heat and decrease glare on electronic screens, resulting in an interior environment that is more energy-efficient and comfortable while still being able to benefit from full visibility through your windows.
Is privacy window film right for me?
If you have found yourself pondering how best to obscure the inside of your home or business from those outside, privacy film is a great option to consider. Because it simply adheres to your already existing windows, it can create an easier, more affordable, longer lasting alternative to replacing the windows themselves or installing hardware like blinds. Additionally, it can be applied to virtually any window, no matter how large, small or oddly shaped, making it a versatile solution to all of your privacy problems. There is a wide range of options to allow you to get exactly what you need to suit your space and your windows. Some of the available options to consider include:
- One-way film: You can easily see out, while outsiders only see a reflective surface
- Decorative film: Make a statement in your space with your privacy solution by incorporating decorative window film in your space
- Percentage of privacy: You can customise the level of tint from completely clear all the way to complete blackout, allowing you complete control.

Energy Saving Window Film – Many people look into installing window film in their home or business because of the aesthetic, visibility, and privacy benefits that it can provide. However, some individuals are surprised to discover that window film has a large number of energy saving benefits that allow your residential or commercial building to greatly reduce the amount of energy that is required to heat and cool the interior of your space. And, with the steeply rising costs of energy in the UK causing many home and business owners to look for ways that they can cut back on their energy usage each month, ADS Window Film could be just the thing to help save you money during these tough times.
Why are windows important areas for energy-saving?
With large portions of a building’s energy being lost through the windows—about twenty-five percent for residential homes, and much larger amounts lost when it comes to commercial dwellings with large windows—the energy-saving properties of ADS window film can make a huge difference in reducing energy use (and therefore associated energy costs as well). Windows are such heavy culprits because they cannot be insulated to the extent of exterior walls and doors, but they are not a lost cause altogether. As large amounts of heat escape out during the winter or makes its way in during the summer, an estimated two thirds of the energy loss can be attributed to radiation through the glazing of the window. Upgrading this glazing through the use of specialised ADS energy-saving window film can help to cut down on these percentages and make your home or business much more energy efficient.
Benefits of energy-saving window film
- Heat retention: Providing an upgraded glaze to the interior and/or exterior of a window can help to reduce the amount of energy that is lost due to radiation through the glazing. Some statistics indicate that windows lose up to ten percent more energy than walls, so upgrades that prevent radiation losses can help to decrease these percentages, allowing heat to stay inside during the cold winder months.
- Reduce cooling costs: Similarly, reducing cooling costs during the summer months is a crucial element of energy-saving window film. Applying a tinted window film, even with a mostly non-visible tint, is one of the most effective ways to reduce heat absorption during the summer. Some selections of window film can cut back on cooling costs for windows by as much as fifty percent. The tint reflects the radiation back from the exterior, allowing the interior to remain much cooler with much less energy required.
- Ease of use: As far as energy efficient solutions go, there is nothing so easy and impactful as ADS Window Film to give you the results you desire. Window film is inherently long-lasting and non-damaging, meaning that you can easily replace it if you decide to switch to a different film in the future. Additionally, it is a less expensive, hassle-free option when compared to the construction that is required to replace existing windows with more efficient new windows. The film can be applied directly to your existing windows and is entirely customizable—no matter how oddly-shaped or old your current windows are, ADS Window Film has a solution to make them more efficient.

Benefits of Window Film – As the cost of living continues to skyrocket in all areas, consumers are looking for more efficient and cost-effective ways to save money, reduce energy bills, or upgrade an existing space. Many people are missing out on the great money-saving alternatives that can be achieved through the use of window film. ADS Window Films are incredibly versatile and easy to install, making them an excellent way to adapt or upgrade any space without expensive construction or remodeling costs—providing savings that are very dear in the current financial climate. ADS manufactures several designs, styles, and finishes of window films that will be sure to suit your needs, no matter how specific. Some of the many benefits of upgrading your existing windows by installing ADS Window Film include:
Energy Savings
Much of your air conditioning and heat is lost through your windows—and this is particularly true in commercial and residential buildings with larger windows letting in lots of natural light. And while the natural light is appealing, keeping the interior heated in the winter and cooled in the summer will certainly add up in energy costs over time. But you don’t have to sacrifice your beautiful windows to cut back on the energy expenses. ADS Window Films help to block UV rays and regulate internal temperatures, decreasing the work required by heating and air conditioning units.
Glare reduction
For office buildings where computers and screens are required, the glare caused by natural light pouring in can be a significant annoyance for those who need to see the screens. However, the lack of natural light decreases productivity and makes interiors feel isolating. Applying ADS Window Film to your existing windows can help to block the UV rays that create glare, resulting in an environment that is still bright with natural light while reducing glare and eye strain for those working on screens within.
Security and privacy
Although window films can be installed that do not interfere with the amount of light entering the interior, ADS offers privacy window films that help to enhance the security of private spaces or areas where sensitive information needs to be protected. Additionally, it can be used to obscure the gaze of passersby who might otherwise have an unrestricted view into your space.
Visual appeal and marketing
ADS Window Films can be customised to make an attractive visual statement on windows and glass partitions within your spaces. Designs can create visual interest without blocking off light flow or creating dark, isolated corners, and can even be created to have your custom logo or design. Not only can this make spaces more visually appealing, but it can also provide a way for you to advertise and market your business.
Cost savings
Oftentimes, people wrongly believe that the only solution to many of these problems is to engage in costly window replacement, which is prohibitively expensive for many people. Luckily, ADS Window Films can solve many of the issues that you may be experiencing with your existing windows and glazing, and at a fraction of the cost. The film can be custom sized so that even oddly shaped windows and irregular spaces can be accommodated without undertaking expensive replacements.
Whether you are looking to save money and cut back on your energy bills, or simply incorporate a way to visually upgrade your space without costly remodels, ADS Window Film can help you to achieve these goals and more. If you would like more information about the benefits of installing window film in your space, or if you would like to speak to a team member about your ideas and options, please contact ADS Window Films today to begin your journey towards a more customised space in your home or office.
European Standard BS EN 12600 – What is it? Although not all window films are equal in quality, durability, or longevity, there are certain industry standards that are set by the government to act as the minimum standards to which window films must be held. Knowing the basics of these standards can help you understand more about the quality to which ADS Window Films holds our products, as we strive to meet or exceed all European Standards and British Standards such as BS EN 12600 and its predecessor BS 6202.
What is BS EN 12600 and how does it differ from BS 6206?
BS 6206 is now an outdated standard that was used to regulate the amount of impact that glass with window film must be able to withstand, measured through pendulum swing forces and drop heights. Although it has now been replaced by the more updated BS EN 12600, occasionally you will still see BS 6206 referenced in documents and products and knowing what it is can be helpful. BS EN 12600 is the more updated version, and it regulates the amount of impact that the glass must withstand from three different drop heights. This mean that, at each of the drop heights in the standard, the window film should be able to remain intact and hold the pieces of the broken glass secure. In actual practice, this increases the safety of the environment in which the glass is placed as the film protects bystanders in the area from being injured by the broken glass, as well as helps to act as a secondary barrier against intruders. The levels of drop protection which are part of a BS EN 12600 classification are as follows:
- Class 3: The glass breaks at a 190mm drop height
- Class 2: The glass breaks at a 450mm drop height
- Class 1: The glass breaks at a 1200mm drop height
All three of these classes are designed to quantify the amount of resistance against impact that the glass can withstand, and safety glass that has been tested to meet the standards of BS EN 12600 is required to bear an identifiable marking identifying the class level achieved during tests. Each class designates the force at which the glass is still able to be held together without loose fragments.
Window films are an excellent way to upgrade your space, be it commercial or residential, and knowing that ADS Window Films adheres to the quality standards and regulations put into place by rulings such as BS 6206 and the more updated BS EN 12600 can give consumers peace of mind and let them know what they can expect from the products in their home, industrial building, or workplace.
Although it can be important to understand what the standards and regulations are in order for you to be informed about the specifics for your projects and upgrades, when you work with ADS Window Films, we take care of all of this for you. No more worrying about deciphering the differences between BS 12600 and BS 6206. Our team takes the time to explain these standards and any other questions that you may have while also ensuring that our products all meet or exceed the basic security standards set by BS 6206 and BS 12600.
